Well I’m 6!

September 20th, 2009

The day started out EARLY.  Jakhi had a football game in Green Brook, NJ at 8am.  Needless to say his team won, again, and by a lot.  After a lengthy nap Jakhi was ready to have his party.

This year we celebrated Jakhi’s birthday at United Skates of America.  When we got there, as the birthday boy, he got to take a spin on the wheel and managed to get himself 500 Skato Points, the most anyone can win.

Getting there early, Jakhi took to the skating rink on his own.  I don’t think he minded at all!

Then the friends and family came and we all sat down for some pizza and juice…

…then we got to the cake!

The children

September 17th, 2009

A little about Ziah:

She wants to be held ALL THE TIME and only wants to sleeps in our arms or on our chest. If we attempt to put her down, she’ll lay for about 5 minutes before she starts to scream cry.  I do not have the heart to let her cry it out. Besides it cant last forever, right?

She smiles in her sleep

Oh and Im convinced that my son is the happiest little kid in the entire world. This is him on the first day of school.  He was really excited.

Jakhi really wanted a mohawk so O took him in the bathroom and cut his hair like Mr.T.  I let him keep the cut for a little over a week.

Ziah

August 30th, 2009

Ziah was born on Aug 19th, 2009 weighing in at 7lbs 9 oz.  Jakhi was initially a little shy (and attention starved) but now he’s very sweet towards her and always concerned when she cries. O is a big mush. He can’t stop staring at her and calling her beautiful. His request for “50 million of these” has already been denied. I am thankful to have had a speedy delivery and a healthy baby. I am looking forward to my time alone with her once the boys head back to work and school this week.

Our 4th of July

July 7th, 2009

img_0366

We had planned on celebrating the 4th of July in Maplewood this year.  One thing led to another and we ended up taking a ride down to Liberty State Park in Jersey City to view the “big city fireworks” this year.  We parked fairly easily and hopped on a shuttle bus which took us right to where the fireworks were launching.  We could really feel every boom, bang, and screech as one was launched right after the other.  Jakhi was in an absolute tizzy running around in circles screaming and clapping with joy.

As the show finished we saw another set of fireworks peaking over some skyscrapers in the distance and, at that point, I realized we were’nt watching the Macy’s fireworks at all but, the regular Jersey City ones.  While I was disappointed with that knowledge it really was no big deal because we still had a great time.  I had never been that close to the fireworks an Jakhi loved every second of it.

I wonder if Zia enjoyed them (she barely kicked or moved the whole time)…

The following day we met up with Astrid and her family for some conversation and S’mores!  Jakhi got to roast his first marsh mellows over an open fire and we all left feeling very full but also very happy.

And We’re Back

June 9th, 2009

Things have been a bit crazy. Things are STILL a bit crazy, so posting anything on the blog fell way to the bottom of the list. OK, it fell completely off the list. Here’s a quick recap of whats been going on: I’m 29 weeks pregnant, we gave up on searching for a house for now and moved into a new apartment. Our first anniversary as an ol married couple was on the 26/ 27th. To celebrate we spent the weekend at the Baltimore harbor.

95% Girl!

February 27th, 2009

Yep, thats what the ultrasound tech told us.  We are still a few weeks too early from being 100% sure but she could see the fabled “3 lines” on the baby’s bottom which typically indicates a female and since she got such a spot on view she was almost positive in her decision.

Chavonne’s chosen name for years now is Zia Estelle.  We aren’t sure on how to spell Zia yet (pronounced  zz-eye-uh) but right now it doesn’t matter.

For those of you that have a hard time seeing it.  She is laying with her head to the right and that long highlight in the center is her spine.  On the left side, you can just make out her legs.

And here she is, sucking her thumb!

Our new house?

January 8th, 2009

Our latest attempt lies nestled in the southern section of Montclair.  The seller approved our offer and if the bank is happy too this is where we’ll be in a few weeks time.  This place has 4 bedrooms!  Granted one of the rooms is an attic, of which the stairs to are less than 6 inches wide.  We also have a working fireplace in the living room.  Smores anyone!?!?!  In the end, the best part about Montclair are the schools and thats what really won me over.  If we make it into this house I think we’ll be happy to stay there for good times to come.

My Little Bean

January 3rd, 2009

I went to my first ultrasound with Chavonne today.  The tech talked more about where to get good food than telling me what was going on…

LOL but she was still cool.  Anyway, here it is, the little [lima] bean that will be my kid.
